FAQ

WHAT IS A WORKSHOP/DATA DIVE?

The workshop/data dive is an event where participants can learn, build & share their creations over the course of two days in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. You don’t have to be a programmer and you certainly don’t have to be majoring in Computer Science.

IS IT FREE TO ATTEND?

Yes

IS THERE FINANCIAL SUPPORT WITH TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION?

Yes. We have a small budget to help attendees with travel and over-night accommodation costs. When you apply please indicate that you would like to be considered for this.

IS THE EVENT OPEN TO NON-QUB OR NON-IMPERIAL COLLEGE STAFF?

Yes, open to all. Must be over 18.

I'M NOT AN AMAZING R PROGRAMMER. CAN I STILL ATTEND?

Please apply to attend. The most important thing is enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. We are interested in people who have expertise in cost-effectiveness and/or health economics but are not programmers, and the other way around.

IS THERE A MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ATTENDEES?

Yes. Places are limited. Please apply via the Apply now button and we will let you know if you have been offered a place after registration closes.

WHAT PROBLEMS WILL WE WORK ON?

Before the start of the event we will hold an open conversation about what particular problems and learning outcomes the participants are most interested in tackling. Then at the event itself, a handful of projects will be pitched on the second morning and participants are free to pick and choose.

WILL THERE BE SNACKS/TEA/COFFEE?

Yes, all day we'll make sure to keep people watered and caffeinated!

WILL THERE BE LUNCH/DINNER?

We will be providing lunch on both days. A dinner at the end of the first day at the beautiful Riddle Hall at QUB will be free for attendees. Indicate when you apply about your particular dietary requirements. See the agenda for more details.
